It's Saturday, and Papa Bear is back on his foot. After being bitten by a Copper Head on Wednesday, he spent Wednesday night under observation in the ER at Emory. We picked him up and brought him home on Thursday morning, and he spent most of the day with said foot elevated. Yesterday (Friday) he was able to work at his desk much of the day, but it was still painful, and he was still medicated. After some careful reconsidering (with the gentle prodding of his wife, mother, doctor, and client), Papa Bear opted to NOT take the boat out today, and to cancel his business trip scheduled for tomorrow. He did, however, run off to the grocery store this afternoon, just to get out of the house and move around a bit.
The notorious foot itself, having taken on a sickly blue-ish gray color across most of the top and one side, is now getting a little more flesh-like tone to it today, but continues to be swollen and tender. Not as many drugs needed to keep the pain managed, which is a good sign. The venom never moved past the ankle, which is also a very good thing. So, overall, Papa Bear's well on the road to full recovery.
All set for the next crisis.... (just kidding).
Wow- so glad Papa Bear's foot is on the mend. I understand copperhead bites are quite painful. What an ordeal!
