Tour of America - Day Three

A frustrating morning. While Papa Bear and I packed up camp, the kids went off to play at the playground…and ended up back at the mud pit. After capturing some local wildlife…

...certain children ended up calf-deep in mud....

…while other children ended up pretty much immersed and needed to be hosed off. Literally. And clothes changed. And an emergency Pod change. While Popper was half buttoned up. But, we managed to get under way almost on time and grabbed breakfast on the road just before entering Iowa.

Papa Bear’s Rush song of the day was “The Trees”, the lyrics of which he recited from memory before playing it for the kids. The kids entertained themselves in the car by playing “Go Fish” in foreign accents (inspired by Pink Panther and Monty Python).

Our drive through Iowa, including skirting past Omaha, consisted mostly of corn. Lots and lots of corn.

"The corn is as high as an elephant's eye."

Omaha, NE as seen from Iowa. How odd is that?

Papa Bear was working from his “mobile office” for part of the day, so Mama Bear took over driving for a bit (thus fewer pictures). We made another change in our original itinerary, deciding to split up the next two days of driving a bit differently. So, we managed to get a spot at the KOA in Sioux Falls, SD – which has to be the nicest KOA Kampground I’ve ever seen.

It was WINDY when we pulled in mid-afternoon, and continued to be WINDY our entire stay. The kids had a blast at the pool…

Rufus chillin' by the pool.

…then Papa Bear set them up with rental trikes for half an hour of pedaling around the campground. Then off for a round of miniature golf. How cool is it they have all these activities for the kids?
